Consultant Levels Up From Construction Manager to Project Manager

Some consulting firms tend to pigeonhole their consultants, only considering them for roles that their resume is already a perfect match for.  At PFES, we understand the importance of helping consultants advance their careers.

Take for example a talented Construction Manager based in Louisiana named Justin. While Justin excelled in this role, he was looking for something more with aspirations to become a Project Manager. Where other consulting firms may have forever considered him strictly for Construction Manager roles and he may have continued spinning his tires in frustration until he eventually burned out and sought out greener pastures elsewhere, we understood the mutual benefit to helping him take his career to the next level.

When an Assistant Project Manager role opened up at one of our client companies in New England, we approached Justin about filling it. We knew his work ethic and drive, combined with our in-house experience, would set him up for success despite his lack of experience as an Assistant Project Manager.

Justin accepted this role, relocating over 1,000 miles away from friends and family for the opportunity to get on-the-job experience as an Assistant Project Manager. With a deep pool of consultants, we were able to connect Justin with an industry professional of 30+ years to work alongside and mentor him throughout the project.

Over the span of two years, Justin quickly grew into and thrived in this role, gaining valuable on-the-job experience and crucial insights from his PFES mentor while delivering quality results to our client company.

“Justin demonstrated enthusiasm in learning his role in our capital program and showed steady advancement in his responsibilities over the time he was with us.” –Program/Project Manager, PFES client

When a Project Manager role opened up back in Louisiana, we submitted Justin for the position and he got the job. He gained real world on-the-job experience, and now he's back home with the job he was striving to land.

This is what we mean when we say we go the extra mile for our consultants. We knew Justin wanted to level up his career, and we worked with him to find the best way to help him do that all while helping our client deliver excellent results.

We met him as a driven Construction Manager. Two  years later, he’s a talented Project Manager.
